In de manual voor de Packard Bell easynote TE69bm spreken ze ook over het 'supervisor password':

"Pag. 40
To activate the BIOS utility, press < F2 > during the POST while the computer logo is being displayed.

Boot sequence
To set the boot sequence in the BIOS utility, activate the BIOS utility, then select Boot from the categories listed at the top of the screen.

Setting passwords
To set a password on boot, activate the BIOS utility, then select Security from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Find Password on boot:
and use the < F5 > and < F6 > keys to enable this feature.

Using passwords
Passwords protect your computer from unauthorized access. Setting these passwords creates several different levels of protection for your computer and data:

• Supervisor Password prevents unauthorized entry into the BIOS utility. Once set, you must enter this password to gain access to the BIOS utility. See Setting passwords on page 40.

• User Password secures your computer against unauthorized use.
Combine the use of this password with password checkpoints onboot-up and resume from Hibernation (if available) for maximum security.

• Password on Boot secures your computer against unauthorized use. Combine the use of this password with password checkpoints on boot-up and resume from Hibernation (if available) for maximumsecurity.

Important
Do not forget your Supervisor Password! If you forget your password, please get in touch with your dealer or an authorized service center.

Entering passwords
When a password is set, a password prompt appears in the center of the display screen.

• When the Supervisor Password is set, a prompt appears when you enter the BIOS utility.
• Type the Supervisor Password and press < Enter > to access the BIOS utility. If you enter the password incorrectly, a warning message appears. Try again and press < Enter >.
• When the User Password is set and the password on boot parameter is enabled, a prompt appears at bootup.
• Type the User Password and press <Enter > to use the computer. If you enter the password incorrectly, a warning message appears. Try again and press < Enter >.

Important
You have three chances to enter a password. If you fail to enter the password correctly after three tries, the system halts. Press and hold the power button for four seconds to shut down the computer. Then turn on the computer again, and try again."

Ik heb het Supervisor Password nodig om dingen te kunnen aanpassen, ik had eigenaar van laptop nog gevraagd, maar die wist van niks dat ie daar ooit een wachtwoord voor heeft aangemaakt...

maar ik heb alleen Set User Password en hiermee heb ik dus te weinig rechten...hieronder printscreen van de bios


ik kan dus ook niet bij de password on boot komen...

Misschien kun op Google iets vinden op "bios master password" in combinatie met merk en type van de laptop.

Levert dat niks op, dan kom je er niet onder uit om de laptop open te schroeven. Dan moet namelijk de bios batterij er uit (en ook de accu en adapter). Halfuurtje moet genoeg zijn.

Dus op de userpassword regel gaan staan en F5 of F6 drukken om het in- of uit te schakelen.
Danwel je geeft op die regel "Enter" en je zet het op "disable".

De boot wijzigen heb je niet perse nodig. Als je de harde schijf eruit haalt en hem formatteert, dan zal de laptop bij opstarten vanzelf gaan zoeken naar een installatie bestand van Windows op dvd of usb.

Over het algemeen werkt dat alleen als je eerst het betreffende password hebt ingegeven, anders zou het gebruiken van een password een weinig zin hebben.

effe een klein tipje van mijn kant packard bell staat voor losse onderdelen (onderdelen van verschillende merken zoals asus packard bell e.n.z) heb zelf ook packard en bell gehad en vondt het een rot merk want gelukkig overleed die pc hij deed heel raar en deed hem snel uit andere harde schijf in gedaan. verv ging het tijdje goed en toen boem deed hij niks meer en wou ook niet opstarten mijn aanrader is hp ofzo. maar terug komend op bios vraag kan het ook niet zo zijn dat je de stekker uit stopcontact haalt van de pc en vervolgens wachten en dan de stekker er weer in zetten. kort samen gevat dat je op die manier zonder wachtwoord kan pc'en

Met recht een 'wacht'-woord genoemd dan; stekker er uit en even wachten

Zo makkelijk kom je er helaas niet vanaf.

Ik zou toch een tijdje de Bios batterij verwijderen.

@niek30: die had ik idd wel gezien, maar ik kan alleen maar het huidige wachtwoord invoeren en daarna een nieuw wachtwoord, ik kan niks met F5 en F6...

heb niet vaak een laptop open geschroefd, maar zal eens op zoek gaan naar de bios batterij, hopen dat dat werkt...
